After a hugely successful appearance on the WOODSONGS OLD-TIME RADIO HOUR, we are proud to present BRANDI CARLILE in a full band concert in the Kentucky Theater main hall. To her growing community of fans, it's Carlile's revelatory imagery, stark emotive vocals and finely-detailed songs which provide the keys to who she is, where she's been, and where's she's going. Brandi found a new wider audience when the ABC hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" showcased three of Brandi's songs -- an unprecedented honor for a new artist. Brandi Carlile's music takes you into the deepest most poetic moments of her own experiences, creating the kind of artist-audience bond that makes you feel you're living inside those moments yourself.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series competitors will be fulfilling their need for speed south of the Mason Dixon Line this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday and Sunday while the Nationwide Series takes the week off.

While stock cars and trucks are trading paint in Georgia, IndyCar Series drivers are readying for their March 14 season opening event in Sao Paulo, Brazil!

Read on to learn more about this weekend's action, to check out the subject of this week's fan poll and to learn how you can become a smarter driver as spring weather approaches.

DRIVE SMART! TIP OF THE WEEK: REMEMBER YOUR RATIOS
With a whisper of spring the air, our right feet tend to gain weight when resting on the accelerators in our cars. While you're enjoying more pleasant driving conditions in the coming weeks, remember that as your driving speed increases, so does the distance at which you can safely brake to avoid trouble. If you double your car's speed, accommodate by quadrupling braking distance. If you double the weight of your vehicle, double its stopping distance. Remember these important ratios and you'll be Driving Smart!

NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES RETURNS TO ACTION IN ATLANTA SATURDAY
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be back in action Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time since its Feb. 13 season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway where
Timothy Peters took a 0.068 of a second victory over Todd Bodine. Among an interesting list of Atlanta Motor Speedway race entrants is veteran Geoff Bodine, who will attempt to make his first series start in nearly six years and compete against his aforementioned brother for the first time since 2004. Geoff Bodine made his last NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start on July 10, 2004 at Kentucky Speedway. He started 31st and finished 27th. Kevin Harvick is scheduled pilot his No. 2 Kevin Harvick, Inc., machine in Atlanta and Steve Wallace is scheduled to compete in the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports entry. Race coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m. (EST), on SPEED Channel, Motor Racing Network radio and Sirius XM Radio 128. Kyle Busch took last season's Atlanta victory from the pole position. Series standings: http://tinyurl.com/NCWTS-Standings.

JOHNSON TO SEEK THIRD STRAIGHT NSCS VICTORY IN ATLANTA SUNDAY
Four-time and defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will roll into Atlanta Motor Speedway seeking a third straight victory Sunday. The 34-year-old phenom from El Cajon, Calif., cashed in his 49th career victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Feb. 28. He led the final 17 laps of the 400-mile test after wheeling his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports machine past the No. 24 of his teammate Jeff Gordon. Johnson earned his fourth career Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sprint Cup Series victory along with his fifth career top-10 finish on the 1.5-mile desert tri-oval. Johnson now ranks 12th in all-time series victories and needs just one to tie both Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson for 11th. The modern-day Johnson has averaged seven victories in each of his four championship seasons. He advanced seven spots in the series standings to fifth with his most recent triumph and will travel to Atlanta Motor Speedway trailing championship leader and second-place Las Vegas race finisher Kevin Harvick by 63 points. Johnson has taken three career victories and a total of nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes through 17 career Atlanta starts. Harvick, who won the first 300-mile NASCAR Nationwide Series event in Kentucky Speedway history, climbed from the 34th Las Vegas starting position and raced his No. 29 Richard Childress Racing car across the finish line 1.874 seconds behind the No. 48. He collected his second consecutive second-place finish and third straight top-10 finish of the young season. He will enter the site of his emotional first Sprint Cup Series victory with a 47-point championship lead over his teammate Clint Bowyer, who was eighth in the race. Harvick has earned one win and a total of four top-five and five top-10 finishes through 18 career Atlanta Motor Speedway starts. He has earned three consecutive top-10 finishes at the track after taking a fourth-place March finish and a second-place September finish last season. Bowyer has produced one top-five and two top-10 finishes this season. He has placed in the top 10 in four of his eight career Atlanta starts. Gordon took third in the Las Vegas race, his teammate Mark Martin claimed fifth and Roush Fenway Racing driver Matt Kenseth completed the race top five. Gordon moved from 22nd to 13th in the championship standings after taking his first top-five and top-10 finishes of the season in Las Vegas. He will look to sustain his momentum Sunday on a track where he's banked four victories, 14 top-five and 23 top-10 finishes through 35 career series starts. Martin took his second straight fourth-place finish of the season in the desert. He will make his start 48th Atlanta Motor Speedway start on Sunday. He has peeled off two victories, 14 top-five and 23 top-10 finishes in those events. He will start Sunday's race third in the series standings and 49 points behind Harvick. Kenseth picked up his first top-five race finish of the season in Las Vegas while running his string of top-10 finishes to three. He will make his 21st career Atlanta Motor Speedway Sprint Cup Series start on Sunday. He has yet to win a series race in the Peach State, but has earned a total of seven top-five and 11 top-10 Atlanta finishes. Kurt Busch took the first of two Atlanta races last season. Martin snared the pole award for that March event. Race coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. (EST), on FOX, Performance Racing Network radio and Sirius XM Radio 128. Series standings: http://tinyurl.com/NSCS-Standings.

EDWARDS MAINTAINS NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES STANDINGS LEAD WITH THIRD PLACE LAS VEGAS FINISH
Roush Fenway Racing competitor Carl Edwards maintained the lead in the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings with a third-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Feb. 27. The performance marked his third straight top-five NASCAR Nationwide Series finish of the season and his fifth consecutive top-five finish dating back to last season. He has now finished in the top-10 in five of his six career Nationwide Series starts in Las Vegas. His No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford crossed the finish line two spots behind the No. 29 Kevin Harvick, Inc., Chevrolet that was under the command of its team owner. Kevin Harvick jumped seven positions in the series standings to seventh with his first victory and second top-five finish of the season. The performance also marked Harvick's second career Las Vegas Motor Speedway victory in the series and his seventh career top-10 finish at the Speedway Motorsports, Inc., facility. He trails Edwards by 91 points in the standings. Joe Gibbs Racing star Denny Hamlin took second in the Las Vegas event when his No. 20 Toyota crossed the finish line 1.361 seconds behind Harvick's machine. He earned his first top-five series finish of the season in his first series start of 2010 and earned his 67th career series top-five finish in his 120th career start. Brad Keselowski placed fourth in his No. 22 Penske Racing machine and Brian Vickers completed the Las Vegas race top five. Keselowski moved from fifth to third in the championship standings after taking his second straight top-five finish. He sits 41 points behind Edwards in the standings. Vickers took his second fifth-place finish of the season and his third straight top-10 finish in the No. 32 ride. He is third in the standings and 48 points behind Edwards. Danica Patrick took a 36th-place finish in Las Vegas after starting 37th. Her average series finish is 34th through two career starts. The series next race will be March 20 in the now more cozy Bristol Motor Speedway confines. Race coverage begins at 2:00 p.m., on ABC, Performance Racing Network radio and Sirius XM Satellite Radio 128. Harvick won the first of two series races at the legendary track last season after Brendan Gaughan started from the pole position. Series standings: http://tinyurl.com/NNS10Stand.

7 Reasons Not To Mess With Children

7 Reasons Not To Mess With Children

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'

The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

cid:7660D1603E7E44AABBCFA38ED0C63A6D@owner09c064eb3  A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?'

Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.'

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

cid:E640FAA4A6E74F17BB4890432E9FC81F@owner09c064eb3  The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'

A little fellow shouted,

'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Luthern elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.. The teacher made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

Bill Clinton Rushed to NY. Hospital With Chest Pains,

Former President Bill Clinton was taken to a New York
hospital on Thursday with chest pains, a White House official
said.

Mr. Clinton has a history of heart trouble but it was
uncertain how serious his condition was as doctors evaluated
him. Mr. Clinton had a quadruple coronary artery bypass in
2004 and later developed complications that required a second
operation months later.

Mastodon Presents: "Crack the Skye" Biographical insight from genesis to fruition in our own words The Album of Our Lives Bill Kelliher (guitars): This is the record we've always wanted to make. We finally made it! I just got back from the dentist and listened to it on my iPod and I started hearing more things that I hadn't noticed before. It was great. Awesome. Basically, "Wow! This is really us!" It's kind of hard to believe. We've come a very long way since our very... (more) first EP, so a huge sense of accomplishment came over me. I was thrilled. I'm really proud of everyone and the job we all did. Brann Dailor (drums, vocals, and percussion): When I listen to it, I feel as if I've just come out of a heavy movie. The first couple of times I heard it through I couldn't talk for about half an hour. Took me a while to come down from it. Brent Hinds (lead guitar, vocals, and banjo): It's almost like it could give you a music hangover. There's a lot of music going on. I'm impressed, even though it came from us. I listened to it and was like, "I'm so proud of these dudes!" I love those guys and am proud of this. Troy Sanders (bass, vocals, and bass synth): Hopefully the album is a reflection of the emotional journey that we've sunk into its creation. After challenging all our emotions in the spectrum, I would hope the listeners will reflect on some of what we put into it. It's not just seven songs, but an up-and-down journey. It was to truly dig in and pull personal inspiration from both the darkest and dearest parts of our souls, and simultaneously with our wonder and amazement of the entire universe. Its two totally different things, diving into a small part of your soul and then being mesmerized with the wonders of our universe. Those things don't really seem to match. But from that dearest spot within our souls, to the outer limits of our universal imagination, we've furthered our attempt to make a record that follows the steps of us wanting to trek through our journey, taking the most natural and brutally honest next step of Mastodon's evolution. Bill: Back in the '70s and '80s and '90s even, when you bought a record like ... And Justice For All or Kill 'Em All or Reign In Blood, you put the record on and listened to it until it was done and then flipped it over and started again. We're from the old school trying to bring that back.

A Little Humor For A Snowy Day

They're Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins!

Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These sentences (with all the BLOOPERS) actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
------------ --------- -----
The sermon this morning: 'Jesus Walks on the Water..' The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.'
------------ --------- -----
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
------------ --------- -----
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say 'Hell' to someone who doesn't care much about you.
------------ --------- -----
Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
------------ --------- -----
Miss Charlene Mason sang 'I will not pass this way again,' giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
------------ --------- -----
For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
------------ --------- -----
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
------------ --------- -----
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days..
------------ --------- -----
A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.
------------ --------- -----
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be 'What Is Hell?' Come early and listen to our choir practice.
------------ --------- -----
Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
------------ --------- -----
Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.
------------ --------- -----
Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.
------------ --------- -----
The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.
------------ --------- -----
Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow.
------------ --------- -----
The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
------------ --------- ---- -

------------- --------- ----
The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare' s Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.
